The Role: Financial Accountant
Our client is currently seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their expanding team. The right candidate will be assisting the finance department and senior accounting staff members with various tasks, including preparing budgets, records, and statements.
To prepare reports that will be relevant for the Senior Leaders.
Collaborating with the finance team to work on various accounting projects.
Assist in the preparation of the UK VAT returns and reconcile the VAT balance sheet.
Main Duties
- Provide comprehensive and professional financial accounting services to the organisation.
- Ensure the integrity of the financial accounts.
- Produce financial reports for internal and external stakeholder.
- Prepare final accounts and manage cash and oversight of financial ledger integrity.
- Implement audit and risk recommendations.
- Line management responsibility for members of staff who support the post holder.
- Prepare statutory group and subsidiaries annual accounts a regulatory models.
- Act as the lead contact point during the Annual Accounts audit and co-ordinate the production of high-quality working papers and ensure timely responses to queries raised.
- Support the preparation of the financial statements, the Annual Reporting Manual and the organisation’s accounting policies and procedures.
- Produce monthly trial balances and balance sheets and review all supporting control code reconciliations to ensure accuracy of the accounts at each reporting cycle.
- Provide timely and accurate financial advice to finance and non-financial managers regarding highly complex financial matters.
- Maintain Strategic Risk Register.
- Maintain Capital Plan.
- Act as Finance Systems Super User.
- To analyse, review and reconcile all income and expenditure variances.
- Make proactive recommendations wherever appropriate to improve systems and controls or make cost savings/improve efficiency.
- Contribute towards the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Finance team by assisting in the completion of other departmental tasks, ad-hoc projects or information requests as and when required.

The Package
- Salary in the range of £44,000 - £45,000 per year.
- Monday to Friday 37 hours per week (Friday working from home)
- Thurrock based
