Southend on Sea 

Full Time – Monday to Friday – 37.5 Hours

Our client is the leading service provider of Managed Equipment Services (MES) for the NHS and the private health sector in the UK. They are currently looking for a CCD & Electronics Technician to join their team based in Southend on Sea.

You must have at least 3 years relatable UK based work experience to be considered.

The CCD & Electronics Repair Technician is responsible for the repair of CMOS devices contained in flexible medical endoscopes and associated small scale electronic items.

You will have a technical understanding of CMOS/CCD/Camera electronics and/or an ability to work with intricate components with a high attention to detail which our Senior team member will help you build upon to continue your professional development in this cutting-edge role.

You will already be working to a consistently high quality rating and understand the importance of continuous improvement within a similar role.  Medical device experience is not necessary however an experience in small scale electronics or optical systems would be advantageous.

CCD & Electronics Repair Technicians are responsible for supporting our Endoscopy workshop in completing initial assessments and component repair/remanufacture along with development of processes and repair documentation for new products.  Due to the small scale nature of this role, there is a requirement for extensive video microscope use along with other precision instruments

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Assessment, disassembly, fault finding, repair & function testing of a range of small scale electronic and optical products
  • Contribute towards customer’s asset uptime by carrying out vital support stage(s) of the repair process within required time limits
  • To achieve consistently high quality whilst maintaining the required level of productivity
  • Reading, understanding and adherence to standard operating procedures, repair manuals, method sheets and other documented processes or regulations
  • Inspection & quality checks throughout and on completion of the repair process by means of visual assessment and the use of associated test equipment.
  • The correct application and use of precision hand tools, repair apparatus, test equipment, adhesives and chemicals
  • Administrative duties relating to the repair process
  • Provide service report updates to Workshop support functions
  • Using PCs and associated equipment/software to record repair details
  • Developing skills and competence on additional products/services within the service department
  • Work within the guidelines of the Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974

Essential Skills

  • Fine hand skills with good mechanical/electronic aptitude
  • Ability to follow method sheets/technical manuals        
  • Computer literate with ability to enter and interpret repair information 
  • Good interpersonal skills          
  • Ability to work as part of a small, dedicated team        

Experience

  • Previous experience in the repair of Olympus flexible endoscopes (repair steps/minor/intermediate repair or higher skillsets considered)
  • Previous experience in small scale electronic repair or optical/lens repair attained within any industry      
  • Consistently high ratings in Quality and Productivity metrics at a minor repair level or higher (internal applicants) - Essential
